Parent Child Classes

December 5, 2019 by Great Oak School

Our Parent-Child program is specially designed to engage children from six months to three years old. The small group class is an opportunity for parents (or caregivers) and young children to come together in a home like environment that is calm, safe, and that echoes the rhythms and atmosphere of a Waldorf early childhood classroom. Children are encouraged to explore and engage in free play, help during snack preparation, participate during circle time, and play outdoors. These classes offer parents a chance to observe the unfolding of his/her child’s natural development. During this developmental stage, children are more engaged in parallel play, but we can begin to observe children initiating their social skills as they interact more and more with one another. The program also offers parents a place to connect, discuss child development and parenting issues, and learn about Waldorf education. Infants-in-arms may accompany older siblings in Toddler classes.
