Great Oak School is hiring the following positions for the 2022/23 academic school year:
EARLY CHILDHOOD ASSISTANT TEACHER – Full & Part Time
Our Early Childhood program is a play-based program that emphasizes immersion in a homelike setting exuding rhythm, warmth and care.
We are seeking additional Early Childhood Assistant Teachers. This position is an imperative part of the Early Childhood Program to support various needs in the classroom including the daily rhythm of circle time, story time, meals and an abundance of indoor and outdoor play.
An ideal candidate would:
- Have a background in or a strong interest in play-based early childhood pedagogies including Waldorf Education.
- Have excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Have strengths developing and maintaining relationships with colleagues and children.
- Have strengths in positive discipline approaches.
- Demonstrate a love and enthusiasm for the art of teaching young children.
FULL-TIME FIRST-GRADE TEACHER STARTING AUGUST OF 2023
We are seeking a teacher who is ready to share their warmth, enthusiasm, and joy with our 15 – 17 rising first graders. This teacher will be the guiding light of this newly formed class to instill a love of learning that is imbued with multi-sensory and multi-cultural experiences while creating a foundation for loving to learn and caring for one another.
An ideal candidate would:
- Have a passion for teaching with a conscious, caring curriculum alongside collaborative, supportive colleagues.
- Hold a bachelor’s degree or have equivalent experience.
- Ideally hold a Waldorf certificate (but we are set up well for teachers in their Waldorf training or hoping to start their Waldorf teacher training).
- Have excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Have strengths in developing and maintaining professional relationships with parents and faculty.
- Be a life-long learner interested in anthroposophy, child development, and self-development.
PART TIME MOVEMENT TEACHER STARTING AUGUST OF 2023
We are seeking a part-time Movement Teacher who can share their love of games, sport, movement and play with our first through eighth-grade students. This position will ideally be responsible to teach fourteen classes a week with some scheduling flexibility. We are hoping that this teacher will be able to nimbly plan and lead classes for all ages in order to teach and model movement skills that will serve our students for a lifetime.
An ideal candidate would:
- Have passion and skill for teaching movement and games, primarily outdoors, with mixed ages of elementary and middle school students.
- Hold a bachelor’s degree or have equivalent experience.
- Ideally, hold a Waldorf certificate (but we are set up well for teachers in their Waldorf training or hoping to start their Waldorf teacher training).
- Have excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Have strengths in developing and maintaining professional relationships with parents and faculty.
- Be a life-long learner interested in the Waldorf curriculum, child development, and self-development.
