Monday is painting day in our kindergarten. We painted with the color yellow. When the children start to paint in a kindergarten classroom they paint with one color at a time in the beginning. The children paint on a blank piece of wet painting paper. This process in called wet on wet painting. The intent is to let the children fully experience each color. Because the wet paint is laid on wet paper, the color flows in unexpected ways. It is a beautiful introduction into the world of painting. We build on these experiences for each color (red, blue, and yellow). Then we paint with two colors the same way until we have created all six colors. Then we get to experience all three together.
